*Wesley update 1/20/26 💔😭
From our Director, Heather Wilson Safsten:
“An angel has gained his wings. Our sweet Wesley passed away in my arms today. I told him I loved him, that he mattered, that he will always be in my heart. Then I said goodbye.
He was only with me for 3 weeks – not nearly long enough. We tried everything we could to save him, but his body was too weak, his condition too advanced. I wish I could have given him more. More time, more comfort, more everything. I loved him so very much. I am sorry I couldn’t save him. I am sorry that humans let him get this bad off without helping him. If we could have met sooner…
Run with the angels sweet boy. The Shady Pines crew will be there to greet you. You are pain free forever now.”*

Sweet Wesley was found on the streets and taken to the humane society. Due to his age and health he was set to be euthanized today. Fate stepped in and he is now safe at Shady Pines.

12 year old Wesley is blind and deaf. He has rotten teeth and matted hair. He is PAINFULLY thin. Every rib and vertebrae protrudes. Despite all this he is an absolute sweetheart who wants nothing more than to be safe and loved. Don’t worry sweet boy, you are in the perfect place for you now.
